What an economic calendar shows

A useful calendar normally includes the event name, country or currency, scheduled time, expected impact, previous reading and, when available, consensus and actual results. These fields provide context around scheduled information.

Why high-impact events matter

Major inflation, employment, central-bank and growth releases can change expectations quickly. That does not mean every high-impact event produces a predictable direction in price. The market response depends on expectations, surprise and positioning.

Read forecast versus actual carefully

A number can look strong or weak on its own while still being close to what markets already expected. Compare actual data with the forecast and previous reading, then consider the wider policy context.
